HOLY CROSS PARISH IN MT. AIRY
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR THE PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL
The Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) is looking for 8-9 new members who if elected will take their seats on the Council in the fall of 2024. Nominations may be submitted for yourself or someone else (with their permission) between September 15 and October 13, 2024. Elections will take place on the weekend of October 19/20.
For your consideration, here is a bit of information about the PPC.
The general function of the PPC is to advise the Pastor in pastoral matters including:
- developing a mission statement and a pastoral plan with a specific yearly theme,
- recommending policies, procedures, and programs to assist in the implementation of the mission statement and the parish pastoral plan,
- reviewing and evaluating the effectiveness of existing programs, and
- serving as a connection to other parish ministries.
Our mission tagline is Courageous. Compassionate. Catholic. Come and See.
Our mission states:
We are courageous in empowering change, compassionate in valuing people, and Catholic in the way we seek to go in love as Jesus does. Come as you are. All are welcome!
To fulfill our mission, our Pastoral Council has set an overall theme of engagement with four directions to guide us in meeting our parish family’s needs.
First is evangelization – opening our doors in a way that is welcoming and makes room for the other.
Second is spirituality – deepening our understanding of where God is leading us in our
lives.
Third is communication – opening our eyes and ears, and in that seeing and listening, opening our minds to be transformed.
Fourth is service – living love as Jesus does.
Expectations of PPC Members
Membership should reflect the diversity of the Parish community. It should also include individual gifts such as compassion for others, courage to empower change, willingness to problem solve, critical thinking, enthusiasm for the growth of the parish, effective communication, and openness to collaboration.
The PPC meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. (except in the summer). Members are expected to attend all meetings and to contribute their unique talents in reflecting on and responding to issues raised. Members serve a 3-year term with the possibility of serving a second term.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact any of the following council members. Nominations may be submitted to Susan Tobia at susan.tobia@verizon.net.
