We thank you, Angela...
Angela Taylor worked with our parish for over 15 years, first as the Secretary at Saint Therese Parish, and later became the Director of Ministry Services at Holy Cross Parish. She was best known for her angelic voice. For anyone who was fortunate enough to have a wedding or funeral at Holy Cross Parish, when planning the Mass, Angela would humbly say 'I can sing if you need a cantor.' Inevitably, the families would be blown away by the operatic voice that seemed to have fallen from heaven itself, when Angela sang. What was even more astonishing was the fact that Angela battled a debilitating lung disease, Sarcoidisis, much of her adult life. So when not singing, she would cough as though she had a persistent chest cold. But when it came time to sing, as Angela would say 'God always provided' the air for her to breathe and her lungs would miraculously cooperate for that fleeting moment.
Angela was also the first person families encountered on their journey when planning a funeral for their loved one. She had a calming way of reminding people to just breathe and assuring them all would be okay. She was also a dedicated student at LaSalle University, always on the Dean's list, getting ever so close to finishing her degree in psychology and counseling. If ever you wanted to get on her good side, chocolate truffles would always do the trick.
Despite of her illness and personal challenges, Angela was especially dedicated to serving the members of our parish and doing all that she could to provide pastoral care to all those she encountered.
Please keep Angela's brother, Alvin, and her extended family and dear church family at St. Martin De Porres Parish in your prayers. Rest in peace, our sister in Christ.
