Why do Catholics request Masses to be said for others?    Mass is the "most perfect from of prayer" - Pope Paul VI.  "An individual may ask a priest to offer a Mass for several reasons: for example, in thanksgiving, for the intentions of another person (such as on a birthday), or, as is most common, for the repose of the soul of someone who has died. The parish office is seeking help honoring two special requests.  

1) Saint Therese Novena Does any member of Saint Therese have a copy of the Novena to Saint Therese.  It was originally said regularly in church and printed on yellow paper. 

2)  Temporary Housing during Holidays  An employee of The Catholic University of America's Performing Arts School is performing at Quintessence Theatre'sThe Pirates of Penzance.  She is seeking temporary housing during November and December.
