Holy Thursday 7pm
The Mass of the Lord’s Supper, focuses on the institution of the Eucharist. Following the homily, the priest washes the feet of twelve people to symbolize how Christ led through service. Following the Mass, the Blessed Sacrament will be taken from the tabernacle to another place for adoration and then reservation.
Good Friday 3pm
The Celebration of the Passion of Christ / Veneration of the Cross.
Easter Vigil 8pm
The service begins outside the church around a small fire. Here the Paschal candle is lit, and everyone processes following the candle into the dark church. Baptismal candles for the next 12 months are lit from the flame of the Paschal candle.
Easter Sunday 9am & 11am
On Easter Sunday, we celebrate Christ’s resurrection from the dead and the new life He gives us. The next 50 days through to Pentecost Sunday are celebrated in joy as ‘one great Sunday’ and are known as Easter Time, or Easter Tide.
Board Nominations Now Open — Friends of Holy Cross Parish PHL
Holy Cross Parish is establishing Friends of Holy Cross Parish PHL, a new stand-alone 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation dedicated to preserving our historic campus, securing grants, supporting capital improvements, and sustaining the Parish's community mission for generations to come. We are now seeking nominations for the founding Board of Directors — individuals who will help shape this organization from the ground up and represent Holy Cross before funders, civic partners, and the broader Philadelphia community. Board members will serve two-year terms and are expected to attend quarterly meetings, participate in committee work, and support fundraising and grant development efforts. This is a volunteer position of genuine honor and meaningful responsibility. We are looking for nominees with experience in areas such as nonprofit governance, law, accounting, grant writing, real estate, historic preservation, community development, communications, or business — but no single qualification is required. Above all, we seek people of integrity with a deep commitment to the mission and future of Holy Cross.
Parishioners, Finance Council members, and Pastoral Council members are all encouraged to nominate themselves or someone they believe would serve with distinction. Nomination forms are due by Sunday, April 5, 2026 and may be returned to the Parish Office at 154 East Mt. Airy Avenue or submitted by email to secretary@holycrossphl.org.
