Givers of spiritual life
The sacraments confer grace, which said another way, is that they give divine life.
A priest, bishop, or deacon is a “life giver” because he is a man of the sacraments, serving his people, the Church.
And the seventh sacrament, Holy Orders, empowers him to handle and administer the other sacraments.
Watch this video to see what happens after ordination:
• How is a priest like a bridge or a ladder that connects heaven and earth? What happens if he is skewed too much to heaven or too much to earth?
• How does a priest act “in the person of Christ”?
• Reflect on how your father, mother or another parental figure was a “life giver” to you. What qualities do you see in priests that, in a spiritual sense, mirror good parenting?
